Wisconsin POW/MIA by Conflict
Wisconsin POW and MIA records go back to the Civil War.
We must not forget the men and women of this country who have been forced by circumstances to become prisoners of war truly know the meaning of freedom. They know it has not come free. Their story is one of sacrifice and courage; their legacy, the gift of liberty.
The key phrase behind the national POW/MIA remembrance movement, which honors Soldiers who were taken as prisoners of war and those who are still missing in action, is “you are not forgotten.”
Many American service members suffered as prisoners of war during varying conflicts- while some made it home to their families, many never did.
